Iron is a necessary mineral element for organisms, it participates in the activities of plant and the composition of matter. Iron content is different in different crop seeds. This article reviewed the research progress on the difference of  iron content in different crop seeds, and the correlation between iron content and agronomic characteristics, which was expected to provide reference for iron fortification research in plant breeding.

Branching plays an important role in the growth of plants, and the number of branches affects the yield of crops. For ornamental plants, the number of branches affects their appreciation effect. In this paper, the factors affecting plant branching and the genes related to the branching shapes were briefly introduced, and the methods used in the study of plant branching traits were summarized, which was expected to provided a wide range of selection space and new ideas for subsequent plant branching research.

Plant microRNAs (miRNAs) can recognize the target gene(mRNA) by the principle of complementary pairing and mediate the cleavage or translation inhibition of the target gene, and the mechanism was used to regulate the expression of target genes. In this paper, we reviewed the mechanism of plant miRNA and its target genes, and the research progress of plant miRNA target gene validation methods from two aspects of the function and the experimental system, which was objectived to explore the relationship between miRNA and its target genes.

Salidroside, mainly from Rhodiola rosea, is an important active substance from Rhodiola plants and has diversified medicinal efficacy such as radiation resistance, hypoxia resistance, tumor resistance, etc. Because of limited source of wild Rhodiola  rosea, extremely low ratio of Salidroside in Rhodiola rosea  and low extraction rate of Salidroside, it is important and valuable to study production methods that could increase the output of Salidroside. Studying on Salidroside biosynthesis mechanism and using genetic engineering techniques to increase the output of Salidroside would have certain extent of promising prospect and value of study. This paper gave an overview of Salidroside biosynthesis mechanism, key enzymes in the metabolic pathway and the Salidroside synthesis method by means of metabolic engineering, followed by proposing the prospect of this study, which was expected to provide reference for research on Salidroside biosynthesis.

Raspberry ketone is a kind of aroma compound, its chemical name is 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanone, which is existing in many kinds of plants. Raspberry ketone is not only applied in food industries and comestic industries as its unique flavor, but also has good effect on loseing weight. The cost that abstract raspberry ketone from plants is exceedingly high and the yield is very low, which leads high price of  raspberry ketone. So through metabolic engineering to synthesize raspberry ketone has become research hotspots recently. In recent ten years, there are many research  on  biosynthesis pathway of raspberry ketone at home and abroad. The paper summarized the achivements on  biosynthesis pathway of raspberry ketone and proposed some opinions, which was expected to provide reference for further study on raspberry ketone biosynthesis.
 
• Advances in Antimicrobial Activity of Coumarins

Coumarin compounds are widely distributed in a variety of higher plants and microbial metabolites, which have shown antibacterial, antiviral, anti-coagulation, smooth muscle relaxation, ultraviolet absorption and anti-radiationactivities. Over the past ten years, there has been a growing interest in antimicrobial activity of the natural and synthetic coumarins. The paper summerized the research on coumarins from recent years, reviewed the documents on structure and antimicrobial activities of coumarin, which was expected to lay the foundation for their development and clinical rational application.

Store operated calcium entry (SOCE) is an important calcium influx process in cells, which mediates extracellular Ca2+ into cell. SOCE also participates in many intracellular physiological process. In these processes, SOCE is mediated by STIM (stromal interaction molecule) protein and Orai calcium channels. In this review, recent progresses regarding SOCE were discussed, and the future research direction were  prospected, which was expected to provide reference for related research.

Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is a key enzyme in the biological nerve conduction, and its main function is to terminate the transmission of nerve impulses by hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) in cholinergic synapses. Organophosphate and carbamate insecticides are the most common acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, although they played a key role in pest control, they might be harmful to other non-target creatures such as human, mammal, etc. Thus it would be critical to develop efficient acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, which only interact with target creatures like pests. This paper reviewed the advances in acetylcholinesterase inhibitors such as organophosphate and carbamate, alkaloids inhibitors, and some novel acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, which would provide reference for development of  safe  acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.

Fruit fermentation liquor was popular as a natural pollution-free plant-derived nutrient solution. This article described the meaning and nutrition components of plant fermentation liquor, and summarized its functions on plants and significant improvement in soil. Finally, through comparing with general fertilizers of plant, the advantage and problem of fruit fermentation liquor as fertilizers of plant were discussed, and the paper gave some suggestion on the way to solve research of new organic fertilizer.

Succinic acid, an important C4 compound, is often used as a raw material for synthesis of commodity chemicals. It has broad application prospects in chemical industry, food, medicine, pesticide, etc. Compared with the traditional chemical synthesis, microbial fermentation production of succinic acid is gradually considered as  focus in the world due to its renewable and environment-friendly nature. This paper reviewed the research progress of how to improve succinic acid production rate of Escherichia coli(E. coli) by regulating metabolic pathway in recent years.  We also  summerized the metabolic network of succinic acid, the regulation on gene of the key enzymes in metabolic pathway and the influence of the production of succinic acid caused by the ratio of NADH/NAD+. In addition, we put forward a suggestion that reform the succinic acid metabolic pathways in E. coli by RNAi and gave a new idea about constructing a genetic engineering strain for improving the production of succinic acid.

RNA-Seq, also called "Transcriptome Sequencing Technology", can be used to study the species gene function and genetic structure at an overall level to reveal specific biological processes. The application of this technique can effectively resolve the issue of huge genome of fruit trees and other problems, and efficaciously reveal and elucidate biosynthetic pathways and metabolic mechanisms of secondary metabolism in the plant. This article mainly discussed the application method and processes of the RNA-Seq technology; We analized in-depth the synthesis mechanisms of rich small molecular compounds with various secondary bioactive metabolites in synthetic fruit trees and carried out researches on the key enzyme genes synthesizing this pathway. The high-throughput sequencing technology based on RNA-Seq makes it possible to discover and reveal the key genes and regulation and control mechanisms for the synthesis of secondary metabolites with important biological functions and economic values.

Endophyte in fruit trees is a kind of microorganism which parasitizes in organization during the whole life or some stages, and no disease or functional changes to fruit itself. The research on endophytes of fruit trees was less because its special ecological niche. The paper mainly focused on the isolation, screening, identification and classification of endophytic in fruit trees. The application and functional mechanism of endophytes were also introduced. Through comparing antagonistic microorganism with antagonistic endophytes in fruit trees, the advantage and problem of endophytes application in biological control were discussed and the future development was prospected.

Ammonia nitrogen was one of the vital factor of atmospheric  pollution. Buried rubbish would generated liquid, which contains high COD and ammonia nitrogen. COD and ammonia nitrogen makes the way that removal ammonia nitrogen become invalid. Microbiological removal of ammonia nitrogen,which has advantage of grew fast, high-efficiency, removed rapidly, nod by-product, as well as convenient. Absolutely can replaced the physical-chemical methods. This paper summarized the methods of microbiological removal of ammonia nitrogen, including  nitrification-denitrifying, heterotrophic-nitrifier-aerobic-denitrifier, anaerobic-mmonia-oxidation(ANAMMOX), similtaneous-nitrification-denitrification(SND), short-cut nitrification denitrification and so on. The paper also prospected their future research direction, which was expected to provide theory support for the study on removal of ammonia nitrogen.

The process was optimized for extracting essential oil from Rosa rugosa by the enzymatic hydrolysis-hydro distillation in this investigation. In comparison with steam distillation method, extraction rate of essential oil and contents of main components in essential oil could be increased by the pectinase and cellulose extraction method. The effects of factors including enzymolysis temperature, concentration of enzymes and enzymolysis pH on the extraction yields of essential oil and contents of main components in essential oil were explored by single-factor and orthogonal test. The optimal extraction conditions were as follows: with enzyming pretreatment, enzymatic concentration was 3 000 U/g, enzymolysis temperature was 50℃, enzymolysis pH was 5.5, of which the extraction yield was 0.243 9%.
