Abstract: SmartStax is a new biotechnology-derived corn product. It combines the VT Triple Pro® technology of Monsanto Company and the Herculex technology of Dow Chemical Company, with a total of eight different insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant genes. It serves as an excellent example of applying gene stacking technologies to provide new tools for comprehensive insect resistance management. This article will briefly review the gene stacking or trait stacking technologies applied in the product, as well as some basic concepts of the integrated insect resistance management.

摘要: SmartStax是一种新型的生物技术玉米产品。它结合了孟山都公司的VT Triple Pro®技术以及陶氏化学公司的Herculex®技术,共含八种不同的抗虫和抗除草剂基因。它是基因叠加技术成功运用的典范,为综合治理害虫抗性威胁提供了新的工具。本文旨在对SmartStax中应用的基因叠加或性状叠加技术和多重抗虫技术,以及产品所服务的害虫抗性治理做一初步介绍。
